Please God and Stay Calm

6. Please God

Ellen and Chuck met some people with handicaps. They thought, “We can help these people.”

They went to their pastor. “We know some special people,” they said. “Some limp and use a cane or walker. Others roll themselves in wheelchairs. Harold can’t talk plain. Several have hearing problems. We’d like to help these people. Can we start a class for them.”

“Yes,” the pastor agreed.

Calm in Provisions

5. Calm in Provisions

The wise sailor takes care of her treasures. With them she buys good building materials. She waterproofs her lifeship so that it will not sink.

Leon, my husband, and I left the Navajo for about a year. We traveled from church to church hoping to raise more support. When we came back, we moved onto the Navajo reservation. They gave us permission to stay there a year.

Calmness

4.  Calm in a Mess

By Lynn Wallace

Had a tornado struck! Every desk drawer lay upside down, its contents strewn about on the floor. I felt crunchy stuff under my feet.

I couldn’t take another step into my bedroom. Something might break.

Since my car required many repairs, Regee and Gina furnished my transportation.

The bathtub overflowed and a sickening odor wafted up to my nostrils.

Stay Calm

3. Little Member—Big Trouble

This little member, the tongue, can get us into a bunch of trouble, or minister grace unto others.

Our pastor became discouraged when a faithful member left with his wife and five children to pastor a church. I said, “God sent Brother Troy out of our church to pastor. These few words encouraged our pastor. At times the Lord gives me words to help someone.

Stay Calm

2. Keep a Calm Heart

The heart is the lifeline of our lifeship. It resembles the ship’s motor. If the motor dies, the ship dies. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Prov. 4:23). When we fail to keep our hearts right, our ships will capsize.

A Blind Woman Drives

A Blind Woman Drives

By Lynn Wallace

"The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them" (Psalm 34:7).   My mother, legally blind, sat alone in her car when it started to roll. "The car was moving," she told me. I thought, I've got to do something. We had just enjoyed our meal at the White Kitchen about ten miles from home. After this we returned to the car. The engine turned over, but neither of us could get it out of park.
